Look at the total trip price
A cheap flight can become expensive after baggage, airport transfers and awkward travel times. A hotel outside the centre can also cost more once daily transport is added. Compare the complete trip before deciding.
Travel dates matter
Midweek departures, shoulder seasons and avoiding major events can make a significant difference. Use flexible dates where possible and compare several nearby weekends.
Compare rail, coach and flights
For routes such as Amsterdam–Paris, Brussels–Paris or other connected city pairs, rail or coach can remove airport transfers and baggage complications. For longer distances, flights may still be more practical.
Choose neighbourhoods carefully
Stay near reliable public transport rather than automatically choosing the absolute city centre. A slightly wider search can improve value without making sightseeing difficult.
